Atal Bihari Vajpayee,

Shri Yajeeji not only took active part in the freedom struggle and was imprisoned for more than seven years in different Jails. He also took part in the INA movement and was detained and court-martialled in the historic Red Fort of Delhi.

He was very much interested in the welfare of weaker sections of society and was associated with a number of labour unions and associations.

After Independence he continued to play active part in the welfare of the nation and was a Member of the Rajya Sabha for a number of years. In Parliament he always championed the cause of the poor and the down trodden.

Shri Yajee was a linquist and knew many languages. He was proficient in Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Bengali, Oriya, Marathi, Gujarati, Manipuri, Telugu, Kannada and English. He was Journalist and a writer and had written a number of publications.
