Shri Yajee received his baptism in politics as a student leader in 1928 and was soon spotted for his intelligence, intellectual caliber and unflagging zeal by none other than Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who Shri Yajee joined, to form the All India Forward Bloc in 1939. Besides Netaji, Yajee was also deeply influenced by the writings of Karl Marx and was for a long time a believer in the proletarian revolution. Later, under Gandhiji’s influence he revised his belief in the power of violence to change societies.
An author, crusador for social causes, organizer and legislator, Shri Sheel Bhadra Yajee was truly a multifaceted personality. He knew no fear and his commitment to the nation never weakened even under the most trying circumstances.
His great contribution to the cause of freedom fighters will be lasting memory. When freedom fighters were being forgotten by the nation and many were living forlorn lives not being cared for even by their families, his unfailing and persistent prodding gave them a life of dignity in their own families and society. |
